Christ Church, Lancaster

Christ Church is a beautiful Victorian buidling, looking out across Morecambe Bay and the Lakeland Fells.  We offer a warm, friendly welcome, and are open for all local families regardless of whether you've been to the church in the past. Whether you are looking for a traditional church service with hymns, or a more contemporary service with Christian prayers of hope and comfort - we will tailor the funeral to you. Families are welcome to share their own memories, tributes and readings, and the minister will help you plan these when they meet with you beforehand. 

Although the church does not have a graveyard, the minister will accompany you to the cemetery or crematorium for the final prayers of Committal. If you prefer a Christian service at a graveside or crematorium rather than in church, a minister will be happy to help. 

The church can seat up to 400 people for funeral or memorial services. We have full disabled access, a hearing loop, accessible toilets, and assistance dogs are welcome. Our Church Hall is also available for hire should you wish to use it for a Wake. 

Christ Church also offer pastoral support before and after the service, holding bereaved families in prayer around the time of the funeral and remembering the deceased at our annual All Souls service. Families are welcome to attend services to hear their loved ones' names read out and to light a candle. 

We charge the standard Church of England fees for Funerals. However, if funds are tight, please discuss this with the Vicar and we can make other arrangements with you. 

It is possible to arrange for services to be recorded and/or livestreamed from Christ Church, for an additional fee.
