The Cotswold Ensemble

The Cotswold Ensemble, est. 1988, has been providing acoustic string quartets, string duos, solo violin and solo cello for ceremony music and live background music for all sorts of occasions, including post-funeral gatherings.

We are 16 professionally-qualified players, mostly having studied at UK conservatoires, some at Oxbridge Music Depts, some having worked full-time in national orchestrals. We have many years experience playing for private functions too. We enjoy playing with different members of the ensemble leading at different events - extra benefits: our performances of standard classic repertoire stays fresh, and we have trusted colleagues who will help out in case of indisposition.

We have a large repertoire: the most popular Baroque, Classical & Romantic repertoire, and pop classics too, and we can create a playlist featuring the music of specific 20th centuary decades, or the favourite pieces of a person being honoured.

Oxford-based cellist Fiona Hedges is the current organiser and the ensembles usual cellist: our other players are mostly from Oxfordshire, the Cotswolds, and the fringes of the Cotswolds.
